Resolution for One Ohio University
Today, Ohio University’s Board of Trustees passed a resolution to support our efforts for building a new legacy of One Ohio University.
Trustees approved the report and recommendations put forth this past fall by the University’s Regional Higher Education Task Force, which was co-chaired Dr. Nicole Pennington, Dean of the Southern Campus, and Dr. Brad Cohen, Senior Vice Provost for Instructional Innovation.
As an immediate next step, I have charged Executive Vice President and Provost, Dr. Chaden Djalali, with the creation of an implementation team to be comprised of academic leadership from across all of our campuses, as well as representatives from the University’s shared governance structure.
The implementation team’s charge is to make data driven decisions to prioritize recommendations to create efficiencies and consolidation where needed, generate new revenue streams, encourage innovation in academic and administrative activities, and engage with communities and state officials for the purpose of ensuring the long-term viability of Ohio University across the One OHIO unified system.
Our regional campuses are a vital part of the Ohio University ecosystem. They provide valuable educational and economic benefits to their respective communities, and we have made it our priority to develop a sustainable funding model that will ensure our regional campuses are able continue to add value within their communities and the Southeastern Ohio region.
This is truly an exciting time for our entire University. By implementing innovative strategies that will identify a sustainable and vibrant financial model for Ohio University’s regional campuses, we advance in our vision for strong legacy as One Ohio University. We are grateful to our Trustees for their continued support.
