The Department of Campus Safety may provide supportive first aid administered at the scene of an emergency and may also provide transportation for minor medical emergencies.
Serious medical emergencies will be handled by Southeast Ohio Emergency Medical Services (SEOEMS) including transportation to medical facilities.
The Department of Campus Safety does not operate an ambulance such as that certified in accordance with Chapter 4731 of the Ohio Revised Code. Ohio University does not claim that any Ohio University staff member may perform those emergency medical care services restricted by Chapter 4731 of the Ohio Revised Code.
A. Telephone calls regarding a minor medical emergency should be placed to the Department of Campus Safety, 593-1911.
B. Telephone calls regarding a serious medical emergency should be placed to SEOEMS, 1-800-282-7777.
A. The Department of Campus Safety shall provide a standard automobile equipped with a standard first aid kit. Officers are trained in basic first aid in accordance with training deemed appropriate for law enforcement officers in the State of Ohio.
B. SEOEMS shall provide an ambulance and certified emergency medical technicians.
