Plant Story ...................................................Why I got into biology

B.S. Plant Biology, May 2015
OHIO University, Athens, OH

Megan joined the Wyatt lab in the summer of 2013, working on identifying and confirming the gene defective in gps6 in Arabidopsis thaliana. Previously, she worked with Dr. Alan Showalter on arabinogalactan proteins in Arabidopsis.

In the Wyatt lab, she has been learning procedures and protocols: planting, DNA extrations, PCR, and gel electrophoresis. Her project focuses on identifying and confirming the mutation in gps6. To do so, she will use deep sequencing technology, then confirm the idetnifty of GPS6 through analysis of publically available mutant alleles and genetic rescue.
