ZANESVILLE, Ohio -- Ohio University Zanesville Campus' cultural committee will present a free preview of a performance by an internationally acclaimed tenor at noon this Thursday, Oct. 23, in the Elson Hall Auditorium.
Gilbert Mata, a resident of Wertheim in central Germany, is the Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra's (SEOSO) featured artist for their October Concert. Mata's performance at Ohio University-Zanesville will give the audience a sample of what will be heard at the SEOSO event.
Mata has been singing opera a little more than nine years and has spent the past six years building his career with performances in Europe. He is making his professional debut in the Unites States. While in the area, Mata will be performing arias from the operas of Verdi, Giordano and Puccini. Because of the use of these pieces by Hollywood, many of the selections are well-known even to listeners who are not knowledgeable of opera literature.
SEOSO's October concert will be held on Sunday, October 26. For more information on SEOSO's schedule, call (740) 826-8197. For information on the Ohio University-Zanesville preview, free and open to the public, contact Charles Savage at (740) 588-1524 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
