ATHENS, Ohio (April 14, 2004) -- Sometimes in order to make changes in a community it is important to remember the lessons learned in the past. That is part of the concept behind the thematic tours through the Little Cities of Black Diamond region. On Tuesday, April 20, "This Time Around: Reinventing Community," airing at 8:30 a.m. on the WOUB Radio Network, will explore how these tours highlighting the past are becoming seeds for the future.
Join WOUB Radio Producer Mark Hellenberg as he interviews tour organizers John Winnenberg and Cheryl Blosser. The tour visits Nelsonville, Haydenville, Shawnee, New Straitsville, Corning and Glouster.
"This Time Around: Reinventing Community" is a year-long series that explores the fabric of community, how and why communities change, and what the future may hold for Appalachian Ohio. Features will focus on communities within the 37-county coverage area of the WOUB Radio Network and will include four quarterly call-in forum programs in the coming year. A companion Web site is being created that will allow community members to interact online. "This Time Around: Reinventing Community" repeats on Tuesday afternoons at 4 p.m. during "Afternoon Edition" on the WOUB Radio Network.
The Ohio University Telecommunications Center, a unit of the College of Communication, operates two television stations: WOUB-TV/Channel 20 in Athens and WOUC-TV/Channel 44 in Cambridge; one cable channel: WOUB II; and six radio stations: WOUB-1340 AM, WOUB-91.3 FM, WOUC-89.1 FM, WOUH-91.9 FM, WOUL-89.1 FM and WOUZ-90.1 FM.
