ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University Business and Residence Services will host the Conferences and Meetings Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Bromley Hall. The second-year event is an opportunity for Ohio University departments and associated businesses to create awareness about their products and services to the local and campus community.
Vendors will set up displays that explain or demonstrate their services and many will hand out samples, brochures and gifts. Door prizes also will be given out throughout the event.
Despite receiving positive feedback after last year's inaugural event, Director of Conference Services and Dining Beverley Wyatt is determined to make this year's fair even better.
"Last year was great and we were happy with the end result, but I wanted to make sure that this fair was better attended and had more participating vendors," Wyatt said. "I have invited more than 200 local organizations and businesses and every employee on campus. We want to let people know that Bromley Hall is a great place to host an event and it has a heated indoor pool that can be reserved for pool parties and other activities."
Wyatt said two major additions to the vendor list include Intercollegiate Athletics and the Honors Tutorial College.
"Sporting events can be a great venue to have a party and Residence Life has a nice apartment in newly renovated Read Hall that can be used for speakers and presenters of Ohio University." Wyatt said. "Many people have told me that they didn't know that a specific service was available at the university, so the goal of this conference is to create awareness for these services not only on campus but also in the community."
The Resource Fair is free and open to the public however, there is a $15 charge for vendors who want to set up a table.
