RecycleMania tip of the week

Feb 10, 2010
From staff reports

RecycleMania is a 10-week long recycling competition among colleges and universities around the globe. The competition began Jan. 17 and will conclude March 27.

Ohio University is currently in last place in the waste minimization category for the competition. Here are a few tips to maximize waste minimization:

1.) When shopping, think about the packaging of the products being bought. The individual pre-packaged items produce a lot of waste. Try to buy products in bulk or in packaging that can be recycled.

2.) Don?t buy something new if you can fix something old. Sometimes that worn pair of jeans just needs to be patched up.

To follow scores and find contests and other information about RecycleMania, become a fan on Facebook at www.facebook.com/recyclemania.ohio or visit the RecycleMania Web site.
