President and mayor set expectations for students' spring behavior

Apr 25, 2010
From staff reports

With the Athens spring celebrations season beginning this weekend, Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis and City of Athens Mayor Paul Wiehl collaborated on a letter to Ohio University students living off campus.

The letter asks students to become familiar with the Athens Municipal Code so that they can avoid the penalties that result from committing violations of the code. The letter says the city's expectations on things such as sound levels, traffic patterns, parking, refuse receptacles and respect for public and private property are written in the code.

The letter told students that nuisance parties, outdoor fires, liquor and narcotics are other aspects of city residency defined in the code. To read the letter, click here.
