Mar 11, 2009

President Roderick J. McDavis testified Tuesday before the Ohio House of Representatives Higher Education Subcommittee in support of Gov. Ted Strickland's proposed budget for higher education.

McDavis testified in his capacity as chair of the Inter-University Council (IUC) and president of Ohio University. He shared the IUC presidents' commitment to utilize resources wisely and improve efficiency while keeping quality education and student success as top priorities.

McDavis thanked Strickland and members of the Ohio General Assembly for their unprecedented support of higher education in the past two years. He vowed to yield a return on the state's investment in Ohio's public colleges and universities.

"Higher education must do all it can to be part of the solution for the future of our state," McDavis said. "I am here to commit to you today that we will."

He also shared Ohio University's progress toward achieving those goals, pointing to successes in technology transfer, nationally competitive awards, retention and other key areas.
