Pelotonia bike tour rides onto campus Saturday

Aug 25, 2009

Hundreds of bicycle riders -- led by Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong -- will ride into Athens and Ohio University Saturday, Aug. 29, culminating the first leg of a 180-mile ride from Columbus to OHIO's Tailgreat Park on Shafer St.

The Pelotonia bike tour is a grass-roots endeavor to raise money for cancer research through a two-day event. Riders can participate in any of four separate rides ranging from 25-miles to the 180-mile round-trip tour from Columbus to Athens. Cyclists are expected to start arriving around noon on Saturday. Only in its first year, over 2,000 riders are registered to participate in the Pelotonia bike tour.

More information about the event can be found at www.pelotonia.org/ride/.
