The Ohio University Alumni Association elected four new members to its board of directors at its annual meeting in Athens.
Melissa Cardenas, Jeanne Gokcen, Julie Mann and Robert C. Wolfinger Jr., will serve four-year terms, expiring in 2013. Their terms begin in July.
Cardenas, who received a bachelor's degree in 1996 and an MBA in 2003, is currently the assistant director educational linkage with the Ohio Board of Regents. She worked with the Ohio University Admissions Department from 1998-2006.
Cardenas has been involved with several Alumni Association events. including the African American Alumni Reunion, Southeast Ohio chapter receptions and the Greek Leadership Advisory Board as well as helping with recruitment efforts to attract a more multicultural student population. As a student, she was involved in Student Senate, Peer Leadership Consultants, Forensics and Alpha Psi Lambda.
Gokcen, who received a bachelor's of science in hearing and speech sciences in 1982 and her master's degree in 1984, is the president of Future Com Technologies, a speech and signal processing technology development company. Gokcen is the recipient of the 2008 Alumni Association's Medal of Merit, the 2007 Tech Columbus Outstanding Woman of the Year and the 1995 Honors Award Ohio Speech-Language- Hearing Association.
Mann, a 2002 graduate in business administration, is the technical project manager for Bank of America. She is a past president of the College of Business Alumni Society, is a past president of the North Carolina Alumni chapter, and is a member of the Alumni Leaders Advisory Council. As a student, she participated in Delta Sigma Pi, International Business Society, the Finance Club and the Golden Key.
Wolfinger, who received an associate's degree in 1973 and a bachelor's degree in general studies in 1980, is a former vice president of National City Bank in Lancaster. He currently serves on the board of the Lancaster Festival. He is a member of the Bobcat Club and has been involved with numerous Ohio University events, including Bobcat Bashes and Walter reception, and is a President Box participant. Wolfinger is an advisory board member of the Bobcat Club, serves on the John C. Baker Council, is a past member of the Ohio University-Lancaster Coordinating Council and a member of the Ohio University Fairfield County chapter.
