Soul of Athens Vol. 2 taps Dawn2Dusk

Jun 11, 2008

One year later, the award-winning Web site Soul of Athens is still wowing viewers.

A new team of producers and designers has published the second edition with a symphony of imagery and sound aimed at exploring the theme of "In Pursuit of Wellness."

The project involved students from the School of Visual Communication's four sequences: infographic/publication design, commercial photography, interactive multimedia design and photojournalism. It also highlights the work of Dawn2Dusk photographers, who were given 24 hours to capture the theme on digital media. VisCom organizes the annual photo project in cooperation with The Athens News.

Launched in May 2007, the site painted a sentimental profile of
Southeast Ohio. Created by more than 100 VisCom students, it has earned international recognition, including first place for "Best Multimedia Package," second place for "Documentary Video" and second place for "Feature Video" in the independent divisions from the National Press Photographers Association. It also won second place for "Best Small Market Multimedia" in the Pictures of the Year International competition.
