Commencement parking tips

Jun 10, 2008

Commencement exercises Friday, June 13, and Saturday, June 14, will affect parking in a number of lots surrounding the Convocation Center, the site of all weekend ceremonies.

General parking details

Parking is available throughout campus for students participating in commencement exercises as well as their friends and family. A map is available online at www.ohiou.edu/athens/parking/, showing all parking lots on the Athens campus.

Lot 129 and the Convocation Center garage parking are unavailable for parking during the ceremonies.

Special parking is available for recreational vehicles at the Athens County Fairgrounds.

Handicap parking/limited mobility assistance

Parking for vehicles with state-issued handicap permits is reserved in Lot 128 surrounding the Convocation Center.

Individuals without a valid handicap permit who need additional assistance may be dropped off at the limited mobility drop-off area across from the former Visitors Center. No parking is available in this area.

Volunteers will be on site prior to commencement to provide assistance and direction. Visitors who do not require handicap parking will be directed to surrounding lots.

Individuals with questions regarding handicap accessibility should call 740-593-1762 or visit commencement@ohio.edu

Traffic, construction updates

Individuals traveling to the Athens campus for commencement should check www.buckeyetraffic.org on the day of travel for advisories about construction work, road closings or other traffic issues.
