Parents Weekend to create memories and connections

ATHENS, Ohio (Sept. 27, 2006) -- This weekend, families from around the country will join their students at Ohio University for fall quarter's Parents Weekend Friday, Sept. 29 through Sunday, Oct. 1. The weekend is filled with events that are fun for students and parents alike.

Comedian Kyle Dunnigan, from Comedy Central's "Reno 911," will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Templeton Blackburn Memorial Auditorium. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for non-students and can be purchased at the Memorial Auditorium box office.

Families are also invited to Peden Stadium to cheer for Ohio University as the Bobcats take on the Bowling Green Falcons at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Students with a valid Ohio University ID are eligible to receive free tickets to all home athletic events. Tickets can be picked up at the Convocation Center, dining halls or the Ping Center during designated times. Admission is $15 for non-students.

"Parents Weekend is important because it allows families to attain an understanding of the college experience, while creating memories and a connection to Ohio University," Director of Campus Life Anne Lombard said. "The weekend helps our students' families become a part of our Ohio University family."

Parents Weekend aims to give parents the opportunity to view campus life first-hand and get a taste of their students' college experiences.

A list of scheduled events for the weekend as well as information on parking, lodging and/or directions can be found at www.ohio.edu/familyweekends/parents/.
