Bobcats to play Chippewas for MAC Championship on Nov. 30
ATHENS, Ohio (Nov. 22, 2006) -- Football will be the name of the game on Thursday, Nov. 30, at Ford Field in Detroit when the Ohio University Bobcats take on the Central Michigan University Chippewas in the 2006 Mid-American Conference championship game at 7:30 p.m.
For ticket information, contact the Ohio Athletics Ticket Office at 740-593-1300 or 1-800-575-CATS or visit www.ohiobobcats.com. Tickets for non-students cost $20. Current Ohio University students can receive one free ticket to the game by contacting the ticket office. The deadline to purchase tickets through the Ohio Athletics Ticket Office is 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 28. No refunds or exchanges will be allowed.
Ohio Athletics is planning a bus trip the day of the game. The bus will leave from the Convocation Center in Athens at 10 a.m. and return after the game at approximately 4 a.m. Friday morning. The bus will also pick up and drop off passengers in Columbus each way. The pick-up and drop-off place in Columbus has yet to be determined, but will be announced soon.
The bus ride to the game is free for Ohio University students and $15 for non-students. To reserve a seat call 800-575-CATS or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org by 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 28.
Ohio University fans in need of a place to stay can make reservations at the Marriott Detroit at the Renaissance Center by calling 313-568-8000. In order to receive a discount, you must ask for the Ohio University fans/alumni rate.
Pregame festivities include the Bobcat Bash at 5:30 p.m., Nov. 30 in the Corner Lounge at Ford Field. The cost is $10 for students and $15 for non-students. Attendees must have a MAC Championship game ticket.
The Bobcats earned the right to play for their first MAC championship since 1968 by defeating the University of Akron, 17-7, on Nov. 16 in Athens. The victory clinched the MAC East Division championship and a date with Central Michigan, the 2006 MAC West Division champion. In last season's meeting, the Chippewas defeated the Bobcats, 37-10, in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
Ohio finishes its regular season schedule with a noon game at Miami University on Friday, Nov. 24. Central Michigan will play its last regular season game the same day at 1 p.m. at Buffalo.
