President announces restructuring of administration: Charge to provost and deans

May 7, 2007

In announcing a restructuring of his administration to bring greater focus to Ohio University's academic mission, President Roderick J. McDavis issued a six-point charge to the provost and deans:

  1. Improve enrollment management. With faculty and staff input, implement a comprehensive, universitywide enrollment management approach for all Ohio University campuses
  2. Improve student success. Collaborate with faculty and staff to increase freshman-to-sophomore retention by one full percentage point each year for the next five years
  3. Streamline the transfer process. Create a seamless process for students who wish to transfer to Ohio University, including establishing clear articulation agreements with feeder schools, examining the role of regional campuses and improving the entire process
  4. Enhance our academic research, scholarship and creative activity. Work with the faculty to carefully assess the university's research strengths and identify the opportunities where selective investment should be made
  5. Diversify our institution. Develop and implement innovative and successful approaches to increasing both student and faculty diversity
  6. Take full charge of the academic plan. Work closely with the faculty to prioritize the objectives and develop and implement specific action items.
