International recording artist to present at Ohio University-Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio (April 16, 2007) -- Cassandra McDonald, a vocal soloist of many talents, will present her one-woman show on Tuesday, April 24, at the Ohio University-Zanesville campus.

McDonald is an international recording artist, concert artist, multiple award-winning vocal soloist, captivating teacher, composer, business owner, pianist, and most recently, playwright.

She uses her rich, mezzo-soprano voice in a range of music, which includes creative kids' concerts, operatic classical repertoire, inspirational spirituals and hand-clapping, heart-pounding gospel.

As the founder and CEO of Creating Artists Stimulating Success (C.A.S.S.), she produces 'Mind Your Own Business,' a yearlong computer media center which provides basic literacy and career exploration for young people and adults.

C.A.S.S. Camp, another one of her programs, educates students regarding music genres, reading and interpreting music. It also provides an opportunity to compose music.

McDonald's one-woman show, 'The Spiritual: From the Plantation to Classical Orchestration Our American Heritage,' takes a look back at the history and culture of authentic American folk medium, the spiritual.

The show will be in the Elson Hall Auditorium, both at 12 p.m. and 7 p.m.  Light refreshments will be provided during the evening show.
