ATHENS, Ohio (Sept. 13, 2005) -- Members of student organizations are taking an active role in Ohio University's effort to help the American Red Cross assist victims of Hurricane Katrina. Students are conducting a focused fund-raising drive, which began Sept. 12 and continues through Sept. 23.
Student Senate President Brian Footer is leading the effort with support from the Office of the President and the Office of the Dean of Students. Students are maintaining collection points throughout campus to collect donations for the Red Cross.
Groups providing leadership to the university-wide campaign include Student Senate, Faculty Senate, Classified Senate, Administrative Senate and AFSCME.
"Students have joined other members of the university community in assisting those affected by the hurricane.
