Ohio University Dance Company to perform at Ohio University-Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio (Oct. 25, 2005) -- The Ohio University Dance Company on Tour will perform at Ohio University-Zanesville at 2 p.m., Nov. 6 in the Elson Hall Auditorium. In this performance, the audience will have an opportunity to see modern dances, ranging from lushly romantic to 'fantastical' to minimalist.

Choreographed by Ohio University-Athens School of Dance faculty, guest artists and the Ohio University School of Dance graduating class of 2006, the dances reflect influences from the Baroque period all the way to contemporary times: from painting to music to literature. All levels of School of Dance students will be performing.

Set to "Queremos Paz" by Gotan Project, Jessica Terrell's septet displays accented Spanish influenced movements that evolve into unique modern dance phrases. The audience will be surprised at the complexity of the footwork and gracefully executed lifts.

The performance, sponsored by the Ohio University-Zanesville Cultural Committee, is free and open to the public.
