ZANESVILLE, Ohio (Oct. 1, 2004) -- Jerry Rockwell, builder of fine handmade mountain dulcimers, will offer a two-day workshop in conjunction with the Women of Appalachia Conference in Zanesville. Rockwell is an accomplished player, teacher, and custom builder of this American folk instrument.
The two-day workshop, Oct. 30 and 31, will allow participants to construct a dulcimer to take home. The price of the workshop is $250. In addition to completing a dulcimer Rockwell will spend the remainder of the workshop providing instruction on playing the instrument. Anyone wanting to attend the workshop for the instruction only, is welcome. Those wishing to learn how to play the dulcimer do not need to own one to attend. The two-day instruction fee will be $80.
The sixth annual The Women of Appalachia: Their Heritage and Accomplishments Conference will take place on the Ohio University-Zanesville Campus, Oct. 28th and 29th. The conference gives recognition to the generations of women with traditions deeply rooted in the past.
