Bachelor's in industrial technology option at Ohio University-Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio (Nov. 15, 2004) -- Ohio University-Zanesville is now offering a bachelor's in industrial technology degree. As a result of a collaborative effort with the two-year program at Zane State College, the program is being offered to the Zanesville and Cambridge campus service area to meet the demand for higher level positions in the industrial field.

Paul Heddaeus will coordinate the industrial technology program. He holds his M.S. in engineering management from Ohio University and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Penn State. In addition to his formal education, Heddaeus brings with him more than 20 years experience with Graham Packaging. His initiative while working for Graham Packaging was instrumental in the company becoming an internal subcontractor at the Colgate-Palmolive plant in Guernsey County. He and his wife Jan moved from Pennsylvania to Muskingum County in 1987 to start up and manage the plant design and operation. Now his initiative will help others like him who want to take their careers to the next level.

The bachelor's degree program is designed to prepare students to work in the field of industrial technology within the context of manufacturing organizations. This includes engineering graphics, material science, manufacturing processes, electronics, computer applications and quality assurance.

"Those who have earned an associate degree in electronics or other technical fields are perfect candidates for this program," explains Heddeaus. "With its minor in business, this degree is versatile for those who are ready to move from the floor into higher level management positions."

Ohio University-Zanesville is hosting two information sessions to answer questions you may have regarding the bachelor's in industrial technology degree. The first session will be held in Cambridge at the Willett Pratt Training Center on Brick Church Road on Tuesday, Nov. 16, beginning at 6:30 p.m. A second session will be held at Ohio University-Zanesville on Newark Road on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. For more information or to reserve your spot at one of these information sessions call Paul at (740) 588-1558 or e-mail heddaeus@ohio.edu. "While walk-ins are welcome," says Heddaeus. "We will be sure to have materials for everyone if reservations are made."
