ATHENS, Ohio (Aug. 25, 2005) -- Beginning at noon on Thursday, Sept. 1, residence halls will open for new Ohio University students. Move-in will continue for new students on Friday, Sept. 2, beginning at 9 a.m., and the residence halls will open for all upperclass students on Saturday, Sept. 3, at 9 a.m.
Because new students will be moving in during business hours, traffic and parking availability may be affected. Faculty and staff are encouraged to avoid entering residence hall areas and to take precaution if leaving work throughout the day during this time.
"Moving 7,400 students into residence halls is a significant logistical challenge that is particularly stressful for new students and their families," said Ohio University Dean of Students Terry Hogan. "We appreciate the understanding of faculty and staff who are inconvenienced during this time."
Police will be present in areas near residence halls and some roads will become one-way in order to accommodate move-in traffic.
If you have any questions regarding traffic and parking restrictions during student move-in, please contact Ohio University Parking Services at (740) 593-1917, or the Ohio University Police Department, (740) 593-1911.
