Statement from Senate President Bill Harris

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Aug. 10, 2005) -- In regards to Senate Chief of Staff Teri Geiger's decision to take a position as director of government relations for Ohio University, all or part of the following may be attributed to Senate President Bill Harris (R-Ashland).

"Due to term limits, the Senate has seen much change in recent years; however, we have had few growing pains, largely because of the leadership of Teri Geiger. Teri has been a constant in an ever-changing environment on Capitol Square. She has brought expertise, institutional knowledge and steady reason to the position of chief of staff and she will be missed by all.

"On behalf of the entire Senate, we wish Teri all the best as she pursues new opportunities and we thank her for her outstanding service to our staff, members and this great state.

"I will be working in coming weeks to find a replacement for Teri, someone who will carry on her outstanding record of service and maintain the spirit of teamwork within the entire Senate."
