Country music artists Travis Tritt, Trick Pony to perform at Peden Stadium

ATHENS, Ohio (June 1, 2005) -- Legendary country music artist Travis Tritt, with special guest Trick Pony, will perform at Ohio University's Peden Stadium on June 17. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the show to start at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the Ohio University Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium ticket office, and through Music Today by calling (800) 594-8499 or online at www.ohiotickets.musictoday.com. This event is reserved seating with limited floor seating at $50 per ticket and stadium seating at $35 and $25. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Lawrence Martin Jenco Foundation, which honors individuals in Appalachia Ohio and West Virginia who have performed noteworthy community service in the Appalachian region.

The concert is a collaboration of Court Street Management, the Blue Gator and Ohio University's Office of University Events and Intercollegiate Athletics.

"The event will be a joint effort put forth by the Blue Gator, Ohio University and the city of Athens," said Joel Schechtman, who owns the Blue Gator. "As well, this concert will help the ongoing effort to establish Southeast Ohio as a major music market."

Tritt, who is from Marietta, Ga., had his first top 10 single in 1989 with "Country Club." His 2000 album, "Down the Road I Go," reached platinum status and spawned four top 10 hits. His current project is "My Honky Tonk History," which includes a duet with John Mellencamp, a guest appearance by Bela Fleck and songs written by Gretchen Wilson, Delbert McClinton and Benmont Tench of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers.

Trick Pony earned a Grammy nomination in 2003 for Best Country Performance by A Duo or Group with Vocal for the hit "Just What I Do" and was the Favorite New Country Artist at the 2002 American Music Awards.
