ATHENS, Ohio (May 25, 2005) -- Ohio University administrators were recognized at the 30th Annual Outstanding Administrator Awards and Recognition of Administrators' Years of Service Ceremony on Tuesday, May 24, in the Baker University Center Ballroom. Ohio University President Roderick McDavis and interim Vice President for Finance and Administration Larry Corrigan participated in the ceremony.
The awards, which were given by Administrative Senate, showcase the achievements of administrative employees at Ohio University. More than 125 administrators were honored for their service to Ohio University with milestones ranging from 10 to 40 years of service. Administrators retiring with 30 or more years were also recognized. Alan Boyd, Lee Cibrowski and David Scott were chosen from 21 nominees to receive this year's Outstanding Administrator Awards.
The three administrators chosen for the Outstanding Administrator Awards were from various departments on campus, yet, all were noted for making a continuing difference and impact on the success of Ohio University.
Alan Boyd, director of International Student and Faculty Services has helped strengthen Ohio University's relationship with international ties and multiple academic programs and departments on campus. Boyd has assisted international scholars achieve their goals at Ohio University, while staying actively involved with the International Street Fair and the Athens Friends of International Students.
"I'm pleased, but very humbled to receive this award," Boyd said. "It's nice to know someone is paying attention and has noticed, but this award is not just in recognition of me, but of a whole team of people who work in this office."
David Scott, physical plant director at Ohio University-Chillicothe has brought many needed upgrades for the campus environment. He has been noted for his work with the Wellness Center and the way he handles facilities problems with immediate attention.
"I would like to thank the Chillicothe staff," Scott said. "I'd like to invite you all to the Chillicothe campus so you can feel the incredible energy."
Lee Cibrowski, associate dean in the College of Health and Human Services is the coordinator of the academic affairs of the college and has served on multiple committees for the renovation and construction of numerous buildings on campus.
"I'm really very honored and thrilled to receive the Outstanding Administrator Award," Cibrowski said. "Ohio University has been a great place to work and I've really enjoyed my job. I came to the University in 1979 as an assistant professor and I've been in the dean's office since 1985. I'm never bored."
In addition to working for the university for 25 years, Cibrowski received both her undergraduate degree and master's degree from Ohio University.
"What can I say, I bleed green," she said.
