ATHENS, Ohio (Feb. 21, 2005) -- Ohio University Community and Professional Programs will be offering a new and improved two-day seminar on grant writing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 4 and 5 at Grover Hall.
Developing Winning Proposals is an intensive hands-on seminar covering an array of areas essential to successful grant writing. Designed for those with little or no grant writing experience, this seminar is for the proposal writer who wants to learn how to excel at researching, planning, organizing and writing a fundable proposal while meeting the requirements of the funder.
Participants will gain new insights into the process by exploring the criteria that funders use in evaluating grant proposals. Non-profit groups, government agencies, small businesses, arts organizations, athletic groups, churches and many others can benefit from the information presented.
Community and Professional Programs has been offering grant writing programs for many years throughout Ohio. The Secrets to Successful Grants Management picks up where Developing Winning Grant Proposals left off. In this seminar, we will explore the intricacies of successful grants management and will help answer the question "I was just awarded grant funding. What do I do now?" A wide variety of topic will be explored including meeting the funder's requirements, dealing with inevitable program changes, funding restrictions, reporting procedures and looking for continued support to sustain the project.
Seminar instructors Gwen Finegan and Nancy Heller, are both accomplished grant writers with many years of experience. Heller has been a teacher, program administrator, grant writer and adult education consultant. She has written successful grant proposals for schools, arts organizations, nonprofit groups and small businesses and has served as a volunteer for the Small Business Development Center, helping startup organizations research and write grant proposals. Finegan is a writer and consultant who works with corporate, government and nonprofit clients. Since May 2002, she has been working through the Community Grant Consortium in Butler County to help social service nonprofits diversify and expand their sources of funding. She has been successful in attracting over $5 million in awards from private foundations and state and federal government.
Participants will receive a manual for each seminar - created specifically for this series as well as a certificate of completion.
