ATHENS, Ohio (Jan. 20, 2005) -- The Communicator Awards has recognized two WOUB productions. The student-based production "Gridiron Glory" won an Award of Distinction in the category of educational institutions/student produced video competition. The documentary "Opening the Door West: The Ohio Company of Associates" was recognized with a Crystal Award of Excellence in the video competition for broadcast television and documentaries.
"Gridiron Glory" reports on high school football games in the region and is produced by students. The Award of Distinction is awarded for projects that exceed industry standards in production or communication skills.
"Opening the Door West: The Ohio Company of Associates" is a documentary produced by WOUB and focuses on the settling of the Northwest Territory. The Crystal Award of Excellence is presented to entrants whose ability to communicate elevates them among the best in the field.
The Communicator Awards is an international awards competition that recognizes outstanding work in the communication field. Entries are judged by industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. There were 2,937 entries from 48 states, the District of Columbia and seven other countries in The Communicator Awards 2004 video competition.
