Underwood named Classified Employee of the Month

ATHENS, Ohio (Jan. 12, 2005) -- Amy Underwood was honored at the Classified Senate's November meeting as Ohio University's Classified Employee of the Month for November 2004. Underwood has worked at Ohio University for twenty-eight years and is a senior library associate at the Zanesville Campus Library.

Underwood was nominated for the award for going above-and-beyond the normal job duties during the recent renovation project at the Zanesville Campus Library. She helped take the old circulation desk apart, moved it to another area, and helped put it back together. She is never afraid to tackle a new project and has been known to read a manual on a new program and then train the rest of the staff on it. She was asked to take on the job of Acquisitions for the library which involved learning two different accounting systems which she accomplished in her usual efficient manner.

Outside of work, Amy is involved with her daughter's Girl Scouts and gymnastic programs. She is a board member of the Zanesville Memorial Band and plays an active role in the Putnam Historical Association and the Zanesville Community Theater. She was a previous Classified Employee of the Month in June of 1998 and holds a Bachelors of General Studies (fine arts and history). Underwood will appear in Library Mosaics "Supporting Cast" feature for the Nov/Dec 2004 issue and had an article published in E-journal Associates, July 2002.

Amy Underwood's photo and award information is posted on the Classified Senate Web site at http://www.ohiou.edu/csen/EOTM.HTML. Her photo and award announcement will be displayed in a prominent area in her department.

This monthly award is made based on nominations submitted by members of the University community for any classified employee who is setting standards for excellence and innovation by promoting unity, community, continuity and visibility. Award winners show outstanding individual achievement, contribution, innovation and performance of their jobs. The nomination form is available on line at http://www.ohiou.edu/csen/EOTM.HTML or can be obtained by contacting Billi Jo Reeves at 593-2158 or reevesb1@ohio.edu.
