Center for Community Service's Take 5 Tuesday encourages taking time for others

ATHENS, Ohio (Oct. 25, 2004) -- The Ohio University Center for Community Service (CCS) is mobilizing a volunteer opportunity in partnership with The Sunday Creek Watershed Group on Tuesday, Oct. 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Howard Hall Site, which is the green space located between Baker University Center and the Hudson Health Center.

Individuals can participate by painting animals on ceiling tiles for the Sunday Creek Watershed Group. All art supplies are provided, and painting requires only five to 10 minutes of time. All students are invited to stop by to help, whether they are highly skilled artists or cannot even draw a stick figure. The rain site will be the ground floor hallway of Baker University Center.

Take 5 Tuesday is a new event sponsored by the Ohio University Center for Community Service in which one-day volunteer events are mobilized and accomplished in coordination with a community-based organization in need of assistance. The event must have components which can be accomplished in short intervals of time, leading up to the accomplishment of an overall goal.

If you have any questions or would like assistance with organizing a Take 5 Tuesday event, please contact Sarah Truesdell at the Ohio University Center for Community Service, 593-4007. The CCS office is located at 033 Baker University Center, and is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
