ATHENS, Ohio (Oct. 21, 2004) -- Ohio University's College of Communication will hold its annual Communication Career Connection (CCC), a career fair designed for students to interact with communication employers for both internships and entry-level employers, from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, in the Baker University Center Ballroom.
Students will be able to network with various companies and organizations, including The Boston Globe, the Washington Center for Internships, Cincinnati Bell, Clear Channel Communications, Newsday (N.Y.), Liggett-Stashower, Inc. (public relations), American Lung Society and WJET/WFXP of Erie, Pa. Thirty employers from different geographical regions and aspects of communications are expected to attend this year's Communication Career Connection.
"We are so pleased to offer this unique opportunity to our communication students," said Holly Jacobs, internship coordinator for the College of Communication. "In the current business climate, students know that they must take advantage of every opportunity to connect with potential employers."
A student conference will also be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24 in the Baker Center Ballroom. The conference will have two discussion panels led by professionals: the first discussion panel, from 2 to 3:15 p.m., is titled "Outshine the Competition: How to Enhance your Employability" and will provide advice for upperclassmen on life after college and how to 'stand out' while job hunting. The second panel, from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m., is titled "Internships: Connections for the Future" and will detail topics such as the importance of internships and how underclassmen can make the most of their college experience. Several Ohio University alumni and industry leaders will be present to offer helpful information and critique resumes throughout the afternoon.
