DIY (do-it-yourself) Festival 2004

Who we are:  College students and community members whose aim is to combat oppression and fight for human rights.  Different people have chosen to work on different issues including fighting capitalism, patriarchy, authority, hierarchy, imperialism, heterosexism, homophobia, sexual assault, environmental destruction, corporate media, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, World Trade Organization, Zionism, classism, and sexism, while working for respect, dignity, equality and freedom for all people.

    Free Trade of the Americas bridge block April 2001 in Buffalo
    School of the Americas Protest, annually in Georgia
    Mumia Abu Jamal Rallies
    March For Justice June 2001 in Cincinnati
    World Economic Forum demonstrations Jan 2002 in NYC
    Peace March demonstrations Sept 2001 and April 2002 in Washington D.C.
    Multiple Conferences throughout the nation

Most of the work we do happens locally in Athens, OH including:
    TV Turnoff Week
    Critical Masses
    Annual Do It Yourself/Do It Together conference
    Anti-IMF/World Bank conference
    Organizing for protests
    Getting speakers on any topic necessary
    Multiple Workshops on Global, National, and Local issues
    Help with Take Back The Night
    Run a Book Distribution
    Show movies
    Have functions on May Day and Police Brutality Day
    Worker v. Owner Soccer on the Green
    Help with Zaleski Tree Sit
    Provide and cook food for ATCO strikers
    Help secure funding for to Sarah Jones perform at OU
    Book Shows/Have Benefits
    Have fun everywhere
