University ID Cards

Your Ohio University ID card is used to verify your status as a student, faculty or staff member in good standing. Student IDs are validated by registration/enrollment information, while staff IDs are validated based on Human Resources records. Services that require a valid ID Card include:

  • Alden Library materials check-out
  • Ping Center, Aquatic Center, and Bird Arena memberships
  • Bobcat Cash  at all Culinary Services dining venues and select campus retail, vending and laundry operations
  • Athletic / Sporting Events, student section
  • Meal Plans / Flex Points
  • Building access in some locations
  • Faculty/Staff e-mail activation and password resets
  • Bobcat Depot - to purchase software/hardware/apparel/accessories, etc.
  • Other locations across campus may also required your OU ID!

You should protect your OHIO ID card the same way you would protect your driver's license or credit cards. If you lose your ID card, you can log into eAccounts and deactivate the card to prevent any unauthorized transactions until you find the card or obtain a replacement from the Bobcat Depot or your regional campus ID card office.

Failure to report a lost ID card or deactivate it may result in liability for any fraudulent transactions completed using the lost card.

Where to Obtain your ID Card

ID cards are produced and issued at different locations depending on which campus you are located on.

  • Athens Campus - Bobcat Depot - Baker University Center 112
  • Regional Campuses - each regional campus has an ID card production / issuance location. It is usually housed in either the IT or Student Services area. Contact your regional campus for additional information
ID Card Designs

The University has had several previous ID card designs before the current design. Cards produced before 2007 are no longer accepted and should be replaced. In the summer of 2014, the ID card design was changed again for all new cards produced.  Customers holding the previous design issued between 2007 and 2014 do not need to get a new ID.

Student Card :  OHIO University students obtain their first ID during Bobcat Student Orientation or stop in Bobcat Depot during business hours to obtain.

Faculty/Staff Card :  New faculty or staff obtain their first ID during their orientation or are instructed by their department to visit Bobcat Depot.

Community Cards :  Issued to spouses, community members, and others who are neither employees nor students but who have purchased access to specific University services like the Ping Center, Aquatic Center, etc.
