Online Proctoring

Online Proctoring allows students to take a proctored exam on their own device from a location of their choosing, if their instructor has enabled the feature for their course. 

Instructors: Please contact the Service Desk if you are interested in using online proctoring.
Students: This service is only available if your instructor has enabled it for your course.

How to Access

Follow these detailed steps to access Proctortrack via Blackboard Learn.

Features

  • Available for Blackboard tests and exams
  • Records the test session and flags suspicious behavior for instructor review
  • Proctortrack monitors:
    • Video feed from student's webcam
    • Student's eye movements
    • Audio levels in the student's environment
    • Hardware devices connected to the student's computer
    • The names of any applications or processes running on the student's computer
    • Whatever is visible on the screen during testing
    • Keystrokes
    • The identity of the student taking the exam 
  • Proctortrack does not monitor
    • Web browsing history
    • Content of personal files on the student's computer 

Automatic Proctoring ($5 per test)

  • Artificial intelligence monitors student during test
  • Student requirements: Computer with a webcam (for taking the test)

Live Proctoring ($8 per test)

  • Artificial intelligence monitors student during test
  • If suspicious behavior is detected, a human proctor checks in on the session
  • Student requirements:
    • Computer with a webcam (for taking the test)
    • 2nd device, such as a smartphone or tablet, with a camera (for secondary monitoring)

Eligibility

  • Current instructors and students.

How to Request

  • We are rolling this option out in phases. Instructors who wish to enable online proctoring for a course should contact the IT Service Desk.
  • Students: You can only use online proctoring if your instructor has enabled it for your course.
