Campus VPN: Mac OS

First Time Setup

Special setup instructions for WOUB users

  1. Download and open the OHIO VPN Profiles (DMG) disk image.
  2. Open the DMG file. It should appear as shown below. Double-click the profile that corresponds with your department, to install it.

  3. Enter your OHIO ID (the part of your OHIO email address to the left of the @ symbol) and click Install
    • If prompted, enter your Mac's administrator password to allow the install to continue.
  4. Open your Mac's System Preferences and choose Network.
  5. Select OHIO VPN in your list of connections.
    • Verify that there is a check next to Show VPN status in menu bar is checked.

    • Click Apply.
  6. Close System Preferences.
  7. In your Mac's system bar, select the VPN icon and choose any OHIO VPN you installed from your list of connections
  8. Enter your OHIO ID and password.
    • At this point you should receive a multi-factor authentication login approval notification on your preferred device.
    • You must accept the DUO Mobile authentication request to complete your login.
    • NOTE: Campus VPN does not have a web-based login and defaults to using the Duo Mobile app. You will not see the typical Duo prompt, and you may have to actually open your Duo Mobile app to see and accept the request. If you are not using the Duo mobile app, you may need to append a code to your password to complete your login.
  9. To disconnect, select the VPN icon in your Mac's system bar.
  10. Choose Disconnect OHIO Campus VPN.

Setup instructions for WOUB users

  1. Download and open the WOUB VPN Installer package (DMG).
  2. Once opened, the disk image will include a Campus VPN Installer.pkg icon and instructions.

  3. Double-click the installer icon. You will need Administrator rights to your Mac to complete the install.
  4. Approve the installation with your computer (or an administrator's) username and password.
  5. When prompted to sign into the VPN, provide your OHIO email address and password.
  6. After the install finishes, go to System Preferences | Network, chose Campus VPN from the list, and click Connect.

How to connect/disconnect

To Connect 

  1. On the right side of your Mac's menu bar, click on the VPN icon.
  2. Choose Connect OHIO Campus VPN.
  3. Enter your OHIO ID and password.
  4. Verify your login using multi-factor authentication
    • You must accept the DUO Mobile authentication request to complete your login.

To Disconnect

  1. On the right side of your Mac's menu bar, click on the VPN icon.
  2. Choose Disconnect OHIO Campus VPN.
