NAS folders

Solution Description: Secure, high speed, on-campus Network Attached Storage (NAS) that can be mapped to a Windows network drive, mounted on a Mac via Command-K, or accessed from off campus via VPN. Departmental quotas on shared.ohio.edu are determined on a case-by-case basis. The Home section is private for each user, and the Shared Network folder is accessible by defined groups. Default quotas for individuals on home.ohio.edu are 20 GB.

  • Attorney-Client Privileged Information (ACP) (Not permitted for Individual NAS)
  • Identifiable Human Subject Research
  • IT Security Information
  • Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
  • Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Social Security Numbers (SSN)
  • Student Education Records (FERPA)
  • Student Loan Application Information

Data Types NOT Permitted: 

  • Attorney-Client Privileged Information (ACP) (Consultation required for Departmental NAS)
  • Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) 
  • Export Controlled Research (ITAR/EAR)
  • Payment Card Industry Information (PCI)
