Email upgrade: Graduate students under way, employees scheduled for October

Thursday, July 17, 2014
Sean O'Malley

The university's faculty, staff, graduate student and emeriti email upgrade continues to move forward, but with a slightly modified timeline.

OIT continues to move graduate students and medical students to Catmail, with approximately 30% of all graduate student account upgrades completed. Based on how long it has taken to reach this point, OIT is adjusting the timeline as follows:

  • Late August - enable the Exchange hybrid server that will allow graduate students and employees to view free/busy times across both email systems
  • September - OIT pilot, followed by an extended pilot with administrative staff
  • October - Begin upgrading all faculty, staff, emerti, and other Exchange users

The upgrade will provide 50GB quotas, a better web interface, and easier calendaring for faculty, staff, graduate students, medical students, retirees, and long term guest account holders. Undergraduates and alumni are not affected.
