University purchases Box site license

Wednesday, February 12, 2014
Sean O'Malley

The university has purchased a site license for box.com that will provide 50 GB of free cloud storage to all current students, faculty and staff. According to Box technical staff, configuration for large institutions like OHIO typically takes 30 to 60 days after initial purchase.

"We expect to have Box available for everyone later this semester," said project manager David Alexander.

Box storage will address several common needs, including:

  • A secure location for backing up files
  • Easy collaboration and sharing
  • Access to files from multiple computers/devices

OIT will notify the university community as soon as the service is available.
