Wi-Fi: How to switch from OHIO University to eduroam

Later this semester, we will be retiring the "OHIO University" wi-fi network name in favor of "eduroam." To avoid a service interruption, please switch to eduroam at your earliest convenience. Eduroam is just as fast as OHIO University, plus it gives you free wi-fi access at hundreds of universities worldwide

MAC OS | Android OS | Apple iOS (iPhone/ iPad) | Microsoft Windows 10



  1. Click the Wi-Fi Icon and Select Open Network Preferences

  2. From the Wi-Fi Section select the Advanced Button in the bottom right

  3. Under the Wi-Fi Tab, Find and highlight the OHIO University network

  4. Click the minus sign to forget the network
  5. Press Ok at the Bottom Right
  6. Press Apply at the Bottom Right
  7. Close out of all Settings before connecting to eduroam
  8. Select the Wi-Fi Icon and select the eduroam network

  9. Enter your full email address (OHIOID@ohio.edu) and your OHIO password
  10. Depending on your Mac's security settings, you may be asked to confirm that you wish to connect and then enter your Mac's password to finish connecting.

Android OS

Forget the OHIO University network

  1. Navigate to your device’s Wireless Settings
  2. Press Wi-Fi

  3. Still in your Wi-Fi settings, press the OHIO University wireless network

  4. Press Forget

Connect to eduroam

  1. From within Wi-Fi settings, select the eduroam SSID

  2. Enter the following settings to initiate a connection to the eduroam wireless network

    1. EAP Method: PEAP
    2. Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
    3. CA Certificate: Do not validate
    4. Identity: Ohio email address
    5. Anonymous Identity: Leave Blank
    6. Password: Ohio password
  3. Press Connect

Apple iOS (iPhone/ iPad)

  1. Go into the Settings on your iPad/iPhone
  2. Go to the Wi-Fi settings
  3. Press OHIO University Wi-Fi network
  4. Then press Forget This Network
  5. Press Forget, again when prompted

  6. Please follow above steps to forget the OHIO University Guest Wi-Fi
  7. Press the eduroam network  
  8. When prompted, enter your full email address (OHIOID@ohio.edu) and your OHIO password
  9. You may be prompted to Trust a certificate. If so, press Trust

  10. Your device is now configured for eduroam


Microsoft Windows 10

  1. Select your Wi-Fi icon in the bottom right of your desktop/laptop and disconnect from Ohio University

How to Forget the Ohio University and Ohio University Guest Network

  1. From the Wireless menu select the Network & Internet Settings
    Network and Internet Settings
  2. Click on Wi-Fi on the left side
    Network Status
  3. Select Manage Known Networks
    Wi-Fi On/Off Button
  4. Select any and all Ohio University networks (including the Ohio University Guest Network, if you shown) and then Forget

Joining Eduroam

  1. Select the Wi-Fi icon at the bottom right of your desktop/laptop
  2. Select the eduroam network and click on Connect, enter full email address (OHIOID@ohio.edu) and your OHIO password
