Current Initiatives

Sept 2023 - Dec 2025
Launch a New Learning Management System, Canvas

Transitioning OHIO's Learning Management System to Canvas will allow better consistency for how students access course materials, and a more intuitive way for faculty to leverage technology in teaching and learning.

Canvas LMS Implementation Site

Jan 2024 - June 2025
Optimize Learning Space Technology Design and Support

Focus on learning space technology design and support will allow us to make sure learning spaces are modern, ready, and functional when needed.

Apr 2024 - June 2026
Evaluate Our Software Suite

This will allow us to understand the university’s changing needs, the industry’s changing offerings, and to establish a technology ecosystem that meets teaching and learning needs, as well as promotes fiscal responsibility.

Notable Accomplishments

  • Created Learning Space Design Principles

In collaboration with the Campus Space Optimization Initiative, established, tested, implemented, and assessed learning space design principles in two learning spaces. This allows us to create more consistency in learning space design in the future, focusing on the user experience.

  • Implemented Blue Course Evaluations

Implemented a new online course evaluation platform, Blue by Explorance, Inc. This underscored the need for alignment and institutional support on student evaluations of teaching (SET) practices.

    Blue Course Evaluation Implementation Site

  • Launched Phase 1 of Canvas

Launched phase 1 of the new Learning Management System. This allowed us to have a pilot group of 1500 students and 55 faculty test the system so we can adapt our training, support, and configuration to best meet the university’s needs.

By The Numbers

100%
of active students are loaded into Canvas
70%
of issues are reported through the Classroom Hub
25%
