Quick Start: Microsoft Groups

Learn how to navigate to a Group's OneDrive file space for the first time and how to find it on subsequent visits.

Access a Group OneDrive space for the first time

  1. When you are added as a member of an Office365 Group, you will receive an email notification from whoever has added you to that Group. Currently, Microsoft has three versions of the Welcome email:
    • If you received the first version, click "Check out the team site.

    • If you received the second version, scroll down to the section titled Collaborate with your group across Office 365 and click "Check it out."

    • If you received the third version, click "Add to the team site."

  2. Login with your OHIO ID and password. 
  3. This will take you to the OneDrive Documents section of your new Group. In the top right corner, click the star next to "Not following." This will change your status to "Following.

Accessing a Group OneDrive space on return visits

  1. Login to onedrive.ohio.edu with your OHIO ID and password.
  2. Towards the bottom of the left navigation pane under "Ohio University," click the Group you would like to access. (If the group is not visible, follow the instructions under "Access a Group OneDrive space for the first time" to follow the Group.)

  3. Unless your Group owner instructed you otherwise, your Group's files will be in the "Department Document Library" folder.
