Blackboard Support recommends the following minimum hardware and software requirements in order to access classes on Blackboard.  Please note that Blackboard users must have Administrator access to their computers to install programs and use Blackboard

Students and faculty can use the browser checker to check their web browser to ensure that all required plugins for Blackboard are enabled and up to date.

Microsoft Office is required to create and open most assignments in Blackboard. The Bobcat Depot carries Microsoft Office and is able to ship software to students. (Note: OpenOffice and Google Docs are not supported by Blackboard.)

Please note that loaned (work or business) computers and public computers are often secured from downloading files and installing programs and cannot be supported.

Alert for Satellite Users:  Satellite connections, such as Dish or Frontier, may not fulfill the minimum technical requirements for using Blackboard Learn.  You may experience timeouts, IP address issues, session problems or course mail issues caused by latency.  It is recommended that you make every effort to use a different service provider when accessing Blackboard Learn.

System Status

Blackboard is functioning as expected.

The May 2018 Learn upgrade is complete.  Details of the updated version are described in this OIT news article.

Blackboard will be undergoing scheduled maintenance between 2 AM and 5 AM on Sunday, August 19.  The Turnitin, Qwickly and Panopto integrations within Blackboard will be briefly (5-10 minutes) unavailable during the window as each are upgraded.  Blackboard will remain available for the duration of the maintenance window.  Details of the maintenance are available on the OIT Status page.
