To combat ever-increasing cyber attacks aimed at higher education, OIT now offers Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for students. MFA adds a verification step to your OHIO login, making it harder for a cyber criminal to use a lost or stolen password to access your account. This feature is a great way to protect sensitive personal and financial data.
How it works
With MFA enabled for your account, services like My OHIO Student Center will ask you to verify your login using either the free Duo Mobile app or an automated text message/voice call. You can verify every time you login, or you can tell Duo to remember you for 30 days to save time with frequently used browsers and devices. If you ever get a Duo verification request out of the blue, that means someone has gotten ahold of your password and is trying to access your account. Deny the request and change your password.
