Here’s a look at a few upcoming events:

Madness: Dungeons & Dragons Madness

In this week's Midnight Madness, produced by MFA playwright Jean Egdorf, the playwrights will present pieces inspired by the character archetypes of D&D and how they may manifest in the non-fantastical world. A weekly graduate playwriting performance series, "Madness" is a series of short plays written, cast and performed all in a single week. 

The Unique Gesture: Exploring the work of the Murray Louis and Alwin Nikolais Dance Company
Starts: Sunday, Sept. 1. Ends: Sunday, Dec. 1. All Day, Alden Library, 30 Park Place, Athens OH 45701 

Stacey Lavender and Lorraine Wochna use photos, video, costumes, and other ephemera from the Alwin Nikolais and Murray Louis Dance Collection (Mahn Center for Archives and Special Collections) to explore four dances over four decades from conception to production.

Thirsting for Knowledge Thursday's What I Learned Growing Up About...
Tuesday, Sept. 3, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Baker University Center, Athens OH 45701 

Utilizing personal moments in one’s life to reengage and reframe one’s worldview, understanding of relationship to self and others, this reflective workshop on sexual, dating, and domestic violence, and stalking, will help participants understand rape culture, explore gendered norms, and create actionable steps to create change within one’s personal life. * Please Note: This September 3rd workshop has received an exemption from mandated reporting in order to allow for full-campus participation by all members of the campus community. Disclosures of incidents of sexual misconduct at this specified event will not be considered notice to Ohio University. 

Gilman Information Session 
Wednesday, Sept. 4, 5-6 p.m. Baker University Center 231, Athens OH 45701 

Description:Learn about the study abroad funding opportunities provided to Pell-eligible undergraduate students by the Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship, a program of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Fall Sustainability Film Series: The River and the Wall 
Wednesday, Sept. 4, 7 p.m. Athena Cinema, 20 S. Court Street, Athens OH 45701 

The River and the Wall follows five friends on an immersive adventure through the unknown wilds of the Texas borderlands as they travel 1200 miles from El Paso to the Gulf of Mexico on horses, mountain bikes, and canoes. They set out to document the borderlands and explore the potential impacts of a border wall on the natural environment, but as the wilderness gives way to the more populated and heavily trafficked Lower Rio Grande Valley, they come face-to-face with the human side of the immigration debate and enter uncharted emotional waters.
