Ohio University employees can register now for any of these safety trainings on the Athens Campus:

Active Shooter ALiCE Training Spring 2019, April 29, 10:30 am to Noon, Baker Center 233

Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter & Evacuate (ALiCE). This training is designed to encourage and promote discussion about active shooter situations and will help participants learn how to be more prepared should an active shooter incident occur. Test your readiness, learn about options and gain confidence in your abilities to react by attending one of the following sessions. Email wyatt@ohio.edu to register. Space is limited~  

Business Continuity Brown Bag Lunch Sessions Spring 2019

Self Defense Training for Faculty & Staff, April 22, Noon - 1 p.m. Baker Center 240 

Officer John Stabler, Ohio University Police Department, a certified self-defense instructor, will present this one-hour session on defensive concepts for various types of assaults. Utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics this training will provide participants with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance and their ability to use it. 

Best Ways to Leverage Official Communication Channels During a Crisis – Carly Leatherwood & Jim Sabin, May 1, Noon – 1 p.m. Baker Center 231 

As a business continuity planner for your unit, you've already thought through some of the important contingencies to have in place to restore operations as quickly and as safely as possible. You may have given consideration to your worst-case scenario and may have participated in a disaster drill or other training. But what about communications? What are the most effective ways to ensure the information you receive and disseminate is accurate, timely, and helpful to you and others involved in the situation. The answer is to ensure you know the official communication vehicles used by the institution and understand the best ways you can help spread the official news. 

Carly Leatherwood and Jim Sabin, from Ohio University Communications and Marketing will present this one-hour workshop will give you the tools you need to do this effectively and efficiently (in good times and in bad)!
