iCUE Spotlight: Feb. 8-14, 2019

Take a look at the upcoming events on the official OHIO Calendar of University Events. Anyone with an active OHIO ID can log in and complete the form to add events that are sponsored by any OHIO planning unit or registered student organization.

Public Telescope Night at Ohio University Observatory

Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, 7:30 p.m., Ohio University Observatory, The Ridges, OH 45701

Public Telescope Night is free and open to the public. Visitors may see Lunar craters, Saturn’s rings, Jupiter, Mars, star clusters, or distant galaxies, depending on the time of year and sky conditions.

THEATER: Presidents Madness

Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, 11 a.m., Hahne Theater, Kantner Hall, 19 College St. Athens, OH 45701

Presidents’ Day is this month, and we Americans love talking about our presidents! Presidential administrations define whole eras, and presidential elections are the epicenter of our political vortex, like the hole at the bottom of the toilet. This week’s Madness, produced by MFA playwright, John Hendel, explores this office clothed with immense power.

Ohio University Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition

Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, 7 p.m. Stocker Center 103, 28 W. Green Drive, Athens, OH 45701

Competitors have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis/dissertation and its significance. Two semi-final rounds are scheduled on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, and Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019. The 3MT final round is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019. Any enrolled master's or doctoral candidate can compete. Cash prizes are awarded for the first three places. In addition, People's Choice awards are given for both a master's and doctoral presentation.

Cookies, Candy, and Condoms

Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Baker University Center 231

Join the Multicultural Greek Council in partnerships with Kappa Alpha Psi and the Latino Student Union for Cookies, Candy, & Condoms. The event will involve latex demonstration from POWER/GAMMA and a presentation from a contraceptive counselor.
