“Novem,” new work from second-year MFA artists, to be exhibited Oct. 24-Nov. 11

The Ohio University School of Art + Design presents “Novem,” an exhibition of new work by second-year graduate students in the M.F.A. studio program at Ohio University, on view Oct. 24 to Nov. 11 in the Ohio University Art Gallery on the fifth floor of Seigfred Hall. The exhibition and opening reception, scheduled for 5 p.m. Oct. 24, is free and open to the public.

“Novem” features nine artists exploring a range of mediums and conceptual concerns in The School of Art + Design in programs ranging from painting, sculpture and expanded practice, ceramics, printmaking, photography and integrated media, and graphic design. The studio art graduate program encourages an interdisciplinary approach, fostering students who interrogate a spectrum of visual and material languages in a variety of practices.

This showcase of recent work was organized by the exhibiting artists and provides insight into the personal visions of these second-year graduate students, each of whom is distinct in their respective field— a must-see show for anyone interested in contemporary art in the Athens area.

Featured artists include Molly Allen, Luke Boyd, Madison Hager, Ekaterina Izmestyeva, Adam Jennett, Maryam Khaleghiyazdi, Levon Miller, Andrew McNamara and Sam Smith.

The Ohio University Art Gallery is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Connect with the Ohio University Art Galleries online at www.facebook.com/ohiouniversityartgalleries.
