15th annual Paint the Town Green winners bask in Homecoming 2017 theme

More than 15 Ohio University offices and local businesses flooded Athens with a mix of Bobcat and Marching 110 spirit during the annual Paint the Town Green event on Tuesday. Each incorporated a different spin on the 2017 Homecoming theme “Back in the Mix, Back on the Bricks” into the displays of OHIO pride across campus and uptown Athens.

“In year’s past, the participation wasn’t this involved,” said Joe Brenckle, Campus Relations graduate assistant and judge for this year’s Paint the Town Green competition. “It was really cool to see businesses get as involved as they did, especially the businesses that haven’t been as involved before.”

While the event is sponsored and judged by the Student Alumni Board and the Campus Involvement Center, Paint the Town Green gives members of the Athens community an opportunity to strengthen their connection with students on OHIO’s campus during Homecoming week.

“When the businesses participate, it really shows the close community that Athens has,” said Marissa Radigan, Student Development graduate assistant and Paint the Town Green judge. “Since the campus and businesses are so close together, it’s important to have a great relationship with each other. When we get the businesses involved in things, it helps grow those relationships.”

Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Paint the Town Green competition!
