Registration underway for Campus Rec’s summer camp and ‘Parents Night Out’ events

Ohio University’s Department of Campus Recreation is gearing up for two community service programs – the annual CAMPus REC Summer Camp and a series of Kids Night Out/Parents Night Out-Golf Scramble.

CAMPus REC Summer Camp

Registration is currently underway for Campus Rec’s eighth annual CAMPus REC Summer Camp. A recreational day camp, CAMPus REC Summer Camp is open to area children, ages 6 to 12. Offering developmentally appropriate activities designed to promote life-long learning of recreational and sport skills, the camp seeks to encourage area youth to explore new and diverse activities, learn new skills and build new friendships.

Ten week-long (Monday through Friday) camp sessions are offered, June 4-29 and July 9-Aug. 17. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily with early drop-off available at 8 a.m. and late pick-up offered until 5 p.m. for no additional charge.

OHIO’s Charles J. Ping Recreation Center serves as the camp’s headquarters with activities held at various locations on the Athens Campus, including at the University’s Aquatic Center. Two of the camp’s most popular activities – swimming at the Aquatic Center and using Outdoor Pursuits’ climbing wall in the Ping Center – occur regularly. Other camp activities include arts and crafts as well as sports and games. All activities are supervised by a team of trained counselors.

CAMPus REC Summer Camp costs $150 per camper per week with a $75 deposit, put toward that fee, required upon registration.

Registration for the camps is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information or to register, click here.

Kids Night Out/Parents Night Out-Golf Scramble

Campus Rec is also gearing up for five events designed to give area parents a little free time.

From 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Fridays, March 30-April 27, Campus Rec is offering its Kids Night Out/Parents Night Out-Golf Scramble. These events offer area children, ages 6 to 12, an opportunity to play games, watch movies and experience recreation at Ohio University’s Charles J. Ping Recreation Center while their parents enjoy some time to themselves or on the University’s Golf Course.

Kids Night Out/Parents Night Out without the Golf Scramble costs $25 per child with registration available here. Kids Night Out/Parents Night Out with the Golf Scramble costs $65 per couple, which includes all golf fees and one child. Each additional child is $10. The cost for couples interested only in the Golf Scramble is $50. Registration for these events is available here.

Space for these events is limited.
