OHIO’s online programs among best in state, nation in latest U.S. News rankings

Several of Ohio University’s online programs were ranked top in the state for veterans and among the best nationally in the latest U.S. News & World Report list of “Best Online Programs” released this week.

More than 1,800 colleges and universities were assessed as part of this year’s rankings. 

OHIO’s online bachelor’s programs in psychology tied for 34th in the nation and best in the state. Additionally, OHIO’s online bachelor’s programs in business placed 32nd in the nation and second in Ohio. 

The online master’s in nursing program was ranked 46th in the nation, up several spots from 51st last year, and third in Ohio. For veterans, the online master’s in nursing tied for 11th nationally, and best in the state. 

“Ohio University is committed to providing high-quality education that is affordable to all of our students, whether they take classes online or on one of our campuses,” OHIO President Hugh Sherman said. “We appreciate the recognition from U.S. News & World Report yet again, especially in recognizing our efforts for our veteran students.”

Two other graduate programs were ranked best in the state for veterans, including the online master’s in business programs (non-MBA), placing 26th nationally, and the online master’s in education programs, placing 19th nationally. 

Last year, OHIO was among the first in the nation to be designated a Collegiate Purple Star campus because of its long-standing support of military personnel. 

For non-veterans, the online master’s in business programs (non-MBA) tied for 57th nationally and third in the state and the online master’s in education programs tied for 58th nationally and placed third in the state. 

In addition to the newest online rankings, OHIO has previously been recognized as the top college in the state for online education by Newsweek

U.S. News & World Report also recently ranked OHIO among the best of universities in the world and named OHIO best value of in-state public universities for the third year in a row.

OHIO’s complete national and state rankings include:

  • Best online master’s in nursing programs (College of Health Sciences and Professions): tied for 46th, third in Ohio
  • Best online master’s in nursing programs for veterans (College of Health Sciences and Professions): tied for 11th, best in Ohio
  • Best online master's in business programs, non-MBA (College of Business): tied for 57th, third in Ohio
  • Best online master’s in business programs, non-MBA, for veterans (College of Business): tied for 26th, best in Ohio
  • Best online master’s in education programs (Patton College of Education): tied for 58th, third in Ohio
  • Best online master’s in education programs for veterans (Patton College of Education): 19th, best in Ohio
  • Best online master’s in engineering (Russ College of Engineering and Technology): tied for 67th, fifth in Ohio
  • Best online MBA (College of Business): tied for 99th, second in Ohio
  • Best online MBA for veterans (College of Business): tied for 65th, second in Ohio
  • Best online bachelor’s programs: tied for 124th, tied for fifth in Ohio
  • Best online bachelor’s programs for veterans: 67th, second in Ohio
  • Best online bachelor’s programs – Business (College of Business): tied for 32nd, second in Ohio
  • Best online bachelor’s programs – Psychology (College of Arts and Sciences): tied for 34th, best in Ohio
