Facilities and Equipment

CTRU

Facilities

The CTRU occupies over 3,000 square feet of space, primarily in Irvine Hall. The CTRU has multiple patient examination rooms that can accommodate minor procedures such as muscle biopsies, an exercise physiology laboratory, an electrophysiology laboratory, a phlebotomy area, medication preparation and storage areas, a laboratory processing station, an intake room, rooms with specialized equipment such as a Hologic DEXA scanner, a metabolic cart, a nutrition prep station, shower and locker storage for participants. The Academic Research Center (ARC) adjacent to Irvine Hall houses the MRI facility with an Esaote G-Scan Brio Musculoskeletal Weight-Bearing MRI.

In addition, the CTRU has dedicated parking within 130 feet of the facility, a reception and waiting area and a conference room. The CTRU has telemedicine capabilities, and OhioHealth Physician Group Heritage College (formally University Medical Associates) and OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital are located within 250 feet and one half mile respectively.

Equipment

Hologic Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DXA or DEXA Scanner)

The CTRU has a Hologic Discovery DEXA system. DEXA is a method used to measure body composition (fat and muscle tissues). One scan involves radiation exposure equivalent to about 1-4 days of natural background radiation.

Hologic Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DXA or DEXA Scanner)

Esaote G-Scan Brio Musculoskeletal MRI

The G-scan Brio MRI is specially designed for musculoskeletal applications as it permits imaging in both supine and weight-bearing conditions as both the magnet and patient can rotate from 0° to 90°. The MRI is located within the CTRU (OMNI owns and the CTRU maintains this dedicated research magnet).

ParvoMedics TrueOne ® 2400 metabolic cart

A ParvoMedics TrueOne® 2400 metabolic cart is available in the CTRU for exercise and resting studies.

Esaote Biosound MyLab25 ultrasound

An Esaote Biosound MyLab25 ultrasound machine is available in the CTRU.

AccuVein AV400

The AccuVein is a handheld, non-contact device to illuminate veins when visualization of veins makes phlebotomy difficult.
